Animal Scantuaries

WHAT IS THE INITIATIVE ABOUT?

The federal ballot initiative to abolish factory farming in Switzerland calls for the end of industrial animal husbandry within our national borders. It is looking to strengthen the conscious consumption of animal products of a higher quality – for the welfare of animals, humans and the environment. Back to a Swiss agricultural system that preserves natural resources and promotes animal-friendly and sustainable production.

The Swiss agricultural system is currently confronted with the global trend towards intensification and concentration of animal production. Smaller farms can hardly withstand the price pressure. They have to produce more and more meat for less and less money. At the same time, «factory farms» are shooting up, trampling on animal welfare, routinely using antibiotics and importing huge quantities of animal feed from abroad. It’s time for a change!

In the knowledge that many will consider us to be fools , we want to inspire a not "normal" but decency-compatible treatment of our livelihoods.

We offer the animals a place to live, where they are allowed to live a stress-free and animal-friendly life.

Every animal is respected and respected as an individual. We create species-appropriate conditions including opportunities for retreat and give the animals the opportunity to indulge their natural needs and behaviors

Politics

Animals have no rights under the law today. While people are protected by basic rights, animals only have the much weaker “animal protection law”. Animals remain mere commodities that can be locked up, injured and killed under many circumstances. Our main goal is therefore that effective animal rights are introduced in Switzerland.

In order for the rights to life and integrity to be introduced, social development must first continue away from animal use. Fewer and fewer people want to support unnecessary animal suffering - this is where we come in. Animal Rights Switzerland therefore promotes an animal-friendly lifestyle and provides information about animal rights.
